and joyful part of my existence. I have been bless to have had the opportunity to know and even jam with some exceptional musicians. I have played flute since 1976 (by ear). In fall of 2005, I decided to take lessons and learn to read music. (Now I'm also in the process of correcting the bad habits I've taught myself through the years. I play in Church as well as in the Seattle Flute Society Flute Choir and never tire of playing. With the advent of the Internet, and the Creative Commons Licensing along with sites like 'MyVirtualBand.com'(Now Closed), 'OpenMusicFactory.com' 'Kompoz.com', 'iMusicScene.com', 'v-band.de', (And many others...) Note: In my Opinion, you should stay away from 'NetMusicMakers.com', (If you decide to participate on that site, read the details about who really owns the music shared on that site very very carefully before you do!!! Actually, good advice for any of these sites, but this one 'smells' a little funny when you find out who all has rights to your music) I have also been able to collaborate on some great music, that I would otherwise have not be able to (unless I were lucky enough to meet the actual musicians)... ...With the exception of Church, It's not likely I'd have the chance outside of cyber space. We are at the beginning of a new and potentially Wondrous Age. Especially when you consider that just 100 years ago, the only way to communicate music over great distances was with Sheet Music. And the only way to collaborate was to be physically in the same room with all the musicians involved. |
